How Figures Uses Claap
Virgile Raingeard founded Figures in 2020 to help companies create fair, transparent compensation policies by providing real-time salary benchmarks.
By January 2021, over 220 companies in France had adopted Figures. With clear product-market fit, the team set their sights on European expansion and decided to raise funds to accelerate growth.
That’s when Virgile kicked off the fundraising process in June 2021—and closed the round just 3 weeks later.

Accelerating Fundraising with Async Communication
Raising funds is typically a lengthy process, requiring multiple meetings with investors to explain the business model, answer questions, and align on strategy. Virgile, however, took a different approach—leveraging async communication and Claap to fast-track the process.
He structured his fundraising in three key steps:
- Introductory Pitches – He shortlisted 15 target VCs and held initial calls to introduce Figures.
- Data Room Access – Investors received a Notion-based data room to explore Figures’ business plan, key metrics, and hiring roadmap.
- Partner Meetings – Final decision-making discussions with VC partners.
Rather than scheduling multiple follow-up meetings to clarify details, Virgile used Claap to provide additional context upfront and answer questions asynchronously.
I used Claap for two key moments: First, to present our data room and provide context upfront. Second, to answer follow-up questions asynchronously. This alone helped us skip one or two meetings per investor
Presenting the Data Room with Claap
To avoid overwhelming investors with dense documentation, Virgile recorded a short Claap video walking them through Figures’ key hypotheses, CAC and LTV metrics, hiring plans, and business scenarios—all embedded directly in the Notion data room.
In just 6 minutes, I explained our business fundamentals, guiding investors through key data points and decisions. This helped reduce back-and-forth and ensured everyone was aligned before deeper discussions.

Async Q&A Instead of Endless Meetings
Normally, fundraising involves multiple follow-up meetings to address investor questions. But when managing conversations with 10-15 different VCs, those extra meetings can significantly slow down the process.
Instead, Virgile used Claap to respond asynchronously:
I answered their questions with Claap instead of scheduling meetings. If I had taken a call for every single question, the process would have dragged on. Instead, we resolved most inquiries asynchronously and only scheduled meetings when absolutely necessary
Faster Fundraising, Happier Investors
Streamlining communication wasn’t just beneficial for Figures—it also impressed investors.
Many VCs told me, ‘That’s really cool—great data room and the videos provide super-efficient context!’
By optimizing the process with Claap and Notion, Virgile was able to close Figures’ seed round in record time:
First meeting → Data room access → Async Q&A → Partners meeting → Term sheet
