How to Log in to Notion: Everything You Need to Know

Luckily, Notion is a really powerful tool that makes complicated things feel much simpler, and the same goes for their login process.

How to Log in to Notion

Okay now we’ve covered what Notion is, let’s get you logged in.

Notion offers two versions of its product for you to log in to: The web browser and the Mac OS/Windows app.

NOTE: Before you log in to notion, you’ll need an account. You can sign up for a free account here.

Log in to Notion with the web browser

If you prefer to log in to Notion in your web browser, here’s how to do it:

  1. Head to notion.so/login
  2. Select which mode you’d like to use to log in: Google, Apple, SSO, or with your email address

For Google

For this option, click it and simply log into your Gmail account. This should take you straight to your account.

For Apple

For this option, click it and log into your Apple account. This should take you straight to your account.

For Single sign-on (SSO)

Once you click this option you will be asked to type in your email address. You will then be sent an email by Notion with a 4-word code separated by dashes. For example, lance-star-grid-tamer.

Copy and paste this code into the Login code box in Notion. Click “Continue with login code” and you will be inside your account.

For Email address

Type in your email address. You will then be sent an email by Notion with a 4-word code separated by dashes. For example, lance-star-grid-tamer.

Copy and paste this code into the Login code box in Notion. Click “Continue with login code” and you will be inside your account.

Alternatively, you’ll also have a magic link inside your email that will log you in straight away without all the copy-and-paste stuff.

Log in to Notion using the Mac OS/Windows desktop app.

By logging into the Mac OS or Windows app, you’ll have access to a more stable Notion experience at the expense of slightly higher RAM use of your computer.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Download the Notion app at notion.so/desktop. Select whether you want the Mac OS or Windows app as desired.
  2. Open the desktop app and select which mode you’d like to use to log in: Google, Apple, SSO, or with your email address

For Google

For this option, click it and simply log into your Gmail account. This should take you straight to your account.

For Apple

For this option, click it and log into your Apple account. This should take you straight to your account.

Why Can’t I Log in to Notion?

Sometimes there are problems that you can control, and sometimes there are problems you can’t. Here’s a few possible reasons you can’t log in to your Notion account:

  1. Incorrect Credentials: You may be entering the wrong email or password. Double-check your login details.
  2. Account Issues: Your account might be temporarily suspended or deactivated due to violations of Notion's terms of service.
  3. Technical Problems: There could be an issue with Notion's servers or your internet connection, causing login difficulties.
  4. Browser Issues: Cookies or cache problems in your browser can sometimes prevent successful logins. Try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser.

Can I Log in to Notion with Multiple Email Addresses?
